Cupra adds a new sporty top model to the Born family. In the VZ, the electric drive is upgraded to 240 kW. The chassis and appearance have also been honed.
At the Seat subsidiary Cupra, VZ stands for Veloz, Spanish for "fast". And that is exactly what the new Cupra Born VZ is all about, as it now leads the compact car range as the sporty top model.
To make the Born fast - or rather: even faster - the engineers have made adjustments to the electric drive. The electric motor is still located on the rear axle. However, its output has increased by around 40 per cent compared to the e-boost version. Accordingly, the data sheet now shows a peak output of 240 kW (326 hp) and a maximum torque of 545 Nm - an increase of 75 per cent. Anyone who thinks that the Born VZ can barely run with power should be told that the zero to 100 km/h sprint is history after 5.7 seconds, while the top speed has been increased by 40 to 200 km/h (governed).
Visually, the VZ version of the Cupra Born sets the scene with the new exclusive paint finish in the special colour "Dark Forest" or the new exterior colour "Midnight Black", which will also be available for the normal Born from autumn. There are also new 8x20-inch forged alloy wheels in two designs and with 3D copper inlays. Further VZ distinguishing features are a corresponding logo in dark chrome on the boot and Cupra lettering in a dark chrome colour.
